The Lost Dream

The Lost dream

A Buffalo Premiere

The Lost Dream

The Lost Dream follows the poignant stories of two "special immigrants," Nazar and Salam, Iraqis who came to the U.S. on Special Immigrant Visas for those who served the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan as interpreters and translators. Branded as traitors and forced to flee their country due to threats by Iraqi insurgents and extremists because of their work for U.S. military forces, the two encounter a very bittersweet welcome in the U.S. Through their home videos, personal diaries, and media clips the film intimately captures their emotional, psychological, and physical struggles as they reconcile their hopes for a liberated Iraq with the harsh reality of refugees without a stable home. Buffalo is home to many SIVs from Iraq and Afghanistan.
